Roof tent for Skoda Octavia

The Skoda Octavia, especially the Combi version, is one of the most common estate cars in Europe and a familiar base for camping with a rooftop tent setup. Most Octavia versions are listed with a roof load of around 75 kg, which can work well for SNAILER hard-shell tents when the right roof bars are used. Liftback versions normally use a model-specific basic roof rack or normal-roof mounting system. Octavia Combi and Scout versions are usually the more practical tent choice, because they have roof rails, with Octavia IV Combi commonly using integrated or flush rails. Always verify the exact generation, body style and roof-load value in the owner's manual/handbook or vehicle technical certificate, if it is listed there, because liftback, Combi and Scout versions do not use the same roof bar system.

Octavia liftback needs a model-specific basic roof rack or normal-roof kit from Thule, Yakima or another approved model-specific supplier. Octavia II and III Combi or Scout with raised roof rails need raised-rail bars. Octavia IV Combi with integrated flush rails needs a flush-rail bar kit, not a standard raised-rail clamp. Roof bars on this size of car usually weigh around 5-6 kg, so check the complete setup - tent, bars and mounting hardware together.
