Roof tent for Nissan Pathfinder

The Nissan Pathfinder is a spacious SUV with the comfort and capability to work well for long road trips, camping and overland travel. Roof capacity varies by generation and roof equipment. Pathfinder R51 2005-2014 has an official maximum load of 91 kg on the roof rack, which gives a properly equipped vehicle a strong starting point for a SNAILER rooftop tent. Pathfinder R52 2013-2021 and R53 from 2022 onward with factory roof side rails have an official service-load capacity of 74 kg. This is effectively the normal 75 kg class and is a common starting point for a SNAILER rooftop tent with correctly selected crossbars. Earlier WD21 and R50 generations, and versions without factory side rails, need their own documented value rather than inheriting the R51, R52 or R53 figure.

Always confirm the exact Pathfinder generation, roof-rail configuration and roof-load value in the owner's manual/handbook or vehicle technical certificate, if it is listed there, before choosing a rooftop tent.

Pathfinder WD21, R50 and R51 with factory open raised roof rails need model-approved raised-rail bars for the exact generation. R52 and R53 with factory roof side rails likewise need generation-specific raised-rail crossbars whose stated capacity supports the complete setup. WD21 and R51 versions with a plain roof may use an exact model-specific normal-roof clamp kit where the rack manufacturer approves it. R50, R52 and R53 versions without side rails need a separately confirmed model-specific solution; a rail-mounted bar cannot be fitted to a plain roof. Panoramic glass is not a mounting surface, so approved bars must load only the documented rails or roof mounts and preserve roof-opening clearance. Roof bars on an SUV like the Pathfinder usually weigh around 5-6 kg, so check the complete setup - tent, bars and mounting hardware together.

Use Thule, Yakima or another exact approved Pathfinder-specific raised-rail or normal-roof system for the generation and roof in front of you. Do not transfer fitting kits between generations or from a rail-equipped vehicle to a version without rails.
