Roof tent for Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most recognisable adventure vehicles, but the ordinary roof is not always the strongest place to mount a rooftop tent. JL/JLU hardtop roof-rack guidance is around 45 kg including crossbars, and soft-top or open-roof Wranglers should not carry roof bars on the fabric roof itself. For a SNAILER tent, the best Wrangler setups are usually reinforced body-mounted racks, external racks, hardtop internal-support systems or other systems with documented dynamic and static ratings.

Always confirm whether the tent is mounted to a removable hardtop, a reinforced hardtop support system, a body-mounted rack or another independent structure.

TJ, JK and JL hardtop Wranglers can use hardtop gutter or drip-rail bars for light cargo, but simple hardtop gutter bars are usually not the right starting point for a hard-shell rooftop tent. Soft-top and open-roof Wranglers need an independent body-mounted or external rack if a rooftop tent is planned. Sky One-Touch versions also need a rack specifically approved for that roof type. Roof bars on a Wrangler hardtop may be light, but reinforced racks and platforms can be heavier, so check the complete setup - tent, rack and mounting hardware together.

Use Thule, Yakima or another approved Wrangler-specific hardtop, internal-support, body-mounted or external rack system.
