About Rooftop Tents on โ€ข BMW iX3

The BMW iX3 is an electric SUV well suited to comfortable roadtrips and quiet weekend camping with a rooftop tent. BMW iX3 G08 and G08 LCI versions from 2021-2025 with integrated flush roof rails have a manufacturer-stated roof load of 100 kg, which is a very good basis for installing a rooftop tent. The newer BMW iX3 NA5 from 2025 uses a 75 kg roof-load figure; with correctly chosen crossbars this is still a normal basis for a rooftop tent, but the carrier system must be selected for the new generation, not automatically from the older G08 fit.

BMW iX3 models with low integrated roof rails need an exact crossbar kit made for the integrated rails of this model. For iX3 G08/G08 LCI, BMW/OEM, Thule, Yakima or Envio can be used if the current configurator confirms the exact vehicle and roof. If an iX3 in the photo does not have longitudinal roof rails, it should not be treated as suitable for crossbars for integrated rails. For versions with a panoramic or glass roof, check that the crossbars, mounting hardware and tent do not interfere with the glass or the opening mechanism. Always check the exact vehicle generation, roof type and roof load in the vehicle handbook or in the vehicle technical certificate/registration document, if this value is listed there.
