Roof tent for Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger is one of the most popular European pickups for work, travel and overland-style camping, but the best tent setup is usually not a simple pair of bars on the cab roof. Ranger T6/PX 2011-2022 is commonly listed around 80 kg on the cab roof including the rack, while Ranger P703 from 2022 onward is listed around 85 kg dynamic in the Ford body manual/handbook. Those numbers can work for some carefully chosen setups, but for a SNAILER tent the more practical route is often a bed rack, canopy rack or hardtop platform with documented dynamic and static ratings. Always confirm the exact Ranger generation, roof version, rack rating, payload and static/dynamic limits before choosing a tent setup.

Ranger standard cab roofs usually need a model-specific normal-roof clamp kit or Thule/Yakima or another approved Ford-specific exact-fit system. Ranger Wildtrak-style trims with factory raised roof rails need raised-rail bars or a rail-mounted platform, but that does not automatically make the cab roof the best tent location. For rooftop tents, a Ranger-specific bed rack, canopy rack, hardtop rack or overland tub platform is usually the cleaner solution when the rack documentation supports the load. Roof bars on a pickup cab usually weigh around 5-6 kg, while bed racks and platforms can be heavier, so check the complete setup - tent, rack and mounting hardware together. Use Thule, Yakima or another approved Ranger-specific system.
