Roof tent for Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V is a practical family SUV with a long history of comfortable road trips, outdoor weekends and everyday use. Roof capacity depends on the generation and factory roof equipment. Later CR-V generations with factory rails are commonly in the 75 kg class, which is a normal starting point for a SNAILER rooftop tent with the correct bars. The current CR-V VI from 2023 has an official maximum roof load of 82.6 kg, while Honda's accessory crossbars are rated to 75 kg, so the lower 75 kg crossbar value applies to that setup. Older CR-V generations and versions without factory rails need their own handbook and rack confirmation.

Always confirm the exact CR-V generation, roof-rail type and roof-load value in the owner's manual/handbook or vehicle technical certificate, if it is listed there, before choosing a rooftop tent.

Honda CR-V I, II and III with factory open raised roof rails need raised-rail bars for the exact generation. CR-V IV 2012-2018, CR-V V 2019-2022 and CR-V VI from 2023 with factory flush or integrated rails need generation-specific flush-rail bar kits. Versions without longitudinal rails need an exact model-specific fixed-point or normal-roof solution where one is approved and must not use universal rail bars. On versions with panoramic glass, the load must remain on the approved rails and bars, never directly on the glass. Roof bars on an SUV like the CR-V usually weigh around 5-6 kg, so check the complete setup - tent, bars and mounting hardware together.
