Roof tent for Mercedes Benz E Class

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a long-distance comfort car, and the Estate versions can make a surprisingly polished base for light touring with a rooftop tent. Many E-Class saloon and estate generations are listed around 100 kg roof load, including W211, W212/W213/W214 saloons and S211/S212/S213/S214 estates. The practical difference is the body style: estates with roof rails are much more natural for camping setups, while saloons and coupes use fixed-point carrier systems and cabriolets have a soft top with no normal rooftop-tent path. Always confirm the exact E-Class body style, generation, roof rails or fixed points and roof-load value in the owner's manual/handbook or vehicle technical certificate, if it is listed there, before choosing a rooftop tent.

E-Class saloons from W211 through W214 normally need a Thule, Yakima or another model-specific fixed-point carrier kit, and coupe versions need coupe-specific fixed-point bars. A207 and A238 Cabriolet versions should not use roof bars on the fabric soft top. S211 Estate 2003-2008 and S212 Estate 2009-2016 use raised-rail bars, while S213 Estate 2016-2023 and S213 All-Terrain 2017-2023 use flush-rail bars. S214 Estate and All-Terrain from 2024 onward need exact model-specific flush-rail bars. Roof bars on this size of estate usually weigh around 5-6 kg, so check the complete setup - tent, bars and mounting hardware together.
